DOODLE STORIES - IAM FEARLESS

"Work hard for what you want because it won't come to you without a fight. You have to be strong and courageous and know that you can do anything you put your mind to. If somebody puts you down or criticizes you, just keep on believing in yourself and turn it into something positive."
-Leah LaBelle

DOODLE STORIES- MITHALI'S MUSE

"WITHIN YOU IS INFINITE"
"Mithali"- First time I saw her, tiny eyes filled with innocence and shyness, dimple cheeks, purity of smile ,dressed like a doll with chirpy cuteness!!!
Being my colleague's daughter, she used to come over with her mom often.
We can always learn ..I should put it this way "Unlearn" a lot that we picked up while we grew up.
As a kid, anything is possible..Butterflies sings, blue whale gives a ocean ride,Doremon is the best friend who consoles her etc..
There is no limit to the world that expands in her eyes.
That makes her a ball of pure energy spreading her happiness .
To the cutest angel, here is this doodle expressing the gratitude!!!

Love and lights to all!!

DOODLE STORIES - MY TWIN SOUL

STORIES !!!
Everywhere, every single minute of our life holds tiny stories filled with emotions of love,gratitude,anger,fear,worry..goes on!
Its not just that celebrities life that should be showcased on, every person we meet on a normal day have tons of stories to share and enlighten !
When I started my page, this was the main motive and thought to hold on firm and enjoy the ride with as many people sharing their stories.

I dedicated my first doodle story for my childhood and ever buddy Kalaiselvi !!!
Oh wait, dont imagine a heroine, she is better than that!
Feelings of yin yang moments, seeds to the dreams ,eye for the beautiful world around and beyond started all with her!

I always find her as my twin with a difference of a very brave character and soul!
The trail to our school was such a fun, that we keep on talking of crazy cricket nights, fandom with eyes wide upon!
We planned our dreams at the corner of the streets, bus stops, temple pradakshina paths and terraces for hours together.

No matter how many years rolled faster, it always remained the same tranquil energy between us.
Inspirations, lessons learnt through life experiences, downfalls and pits, sensitive alarms, sudden gaps,transformation...it all brought us to the trail where we started and dreamt .
The time I spent with her, dreams that I relished with her..are the plaster of paris :p for who am I now!!
She will be there and always be there for me..Thank you my dear "Rapunzel"

" Let the beauty of what you love be what you do."

                                                                                                               - Rumi

Lately I had been consciously feeling the energy hidden in this quote desperately!

THE BABY KRISHNA

"CREATIVITY IS LIMITLESS"

I always end up having the opportunity to create different art forms that convey a different meaning at the end of the creation.
Sometimes I wonder that am not sticking to one particular theme but the realization is worth the trial and beyond doubts.
"IT HAPPENS FOR THE HIGHEST GOOD"
I was given a task of converting a two dimensional poster to a three dimensional form but was given the freedom of the process.

This is the poster of the beautiful baby Krishna innocent and lovingly cared by his glorious mom Yashodha.
I decided to work with clay and started to accentuate the golden accessories and clothing.
It had the beautiful details of traditional ornaments, motifs, patterns on the saree that required the spotlight.

And also the landscape behind had the scope to work on as layers.
The beautiful tree which is closer and a distant temple and mountains far behind added more depth to the picture.

After the drying process,I started giving layers of colours and finished with a golden touch.
To bring up the glitz,I added up kundan stones that really brought up life to the elements.

And finally, the peacock feathers were made natural from real feathers available in market.

After deep coatings of final varnish, Baby Krishna got ready:)
It was framed and was ready to give up to the temple premises.
But miraculously the Lord wanted his own selection of home, It finally ended up being in a ardent devotee's arms.

LANTERNS OF LOVE

"And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new"

Everyone of us love to sing that song and feel the world as a child.
Its not just Rapunzel who gets lost watching the lanterns up in the air!
Far off in the air,it feels as though its transporting our dreams to the universe.
Lanterns are always a visual element of joy in all its form.
If we could make one closer to our dreams and watch it over in all its colours, that would be very dreamy.

I chose to customize a lantern for the most dearest person who would cherish and leap out of joy seeing the varied colours of her hero "KRISHNA".

To my best buddy,to the heart filled with pure devotion to Lord Krishna, I couldn't think of any other birthday surprise than the handmade Jagannath lantern.

I made this lantern entirely of Paper machie and of course its really difficult to safeguard the papermachie from the tiny cousins who wants to experiment it!!;)
After the paper machie is ready to get its colours, the concept was finalized to Lord Jagannath,Lord Subhadra,Lord Balram in the centre.

These were the hangings depicting the cheerful peacock feathers!!!
And starting to work with acrylics, glitters, golden touches finally the lantern was ready!!!

I didn't have time to fix up the lighting for her, thankfully she had one at her home and sent me this beautiful surprise back to me.

And when she sent me this,
"Jagannathised Lantern.
Akshayaa gifted me this on my birthday.
I was so surprised and very happy as I'm basically a great devotee of Lord Jagannath.
Very beautifully made from paper machie and intricately painted with floral pattern and the gods.
Its more beautiful when lit in night along with the peacock feathers hanging below.
It gives a feeling as if Lord is the light in our darkened life.
Very nice interior artifact and a lovely unique gift made with lots of dedication and love.
Love you so much :)
The most treasured and favourite gift that touched my heart!!!"
I have no words to say except,
HARE KRISHNA!!!
Its lovely to watch those colourful shadows on the wall and get lost in our dreams.
Love and Lights to all!!

DIY TUTORIAL- KALI MAATHA

Here is my first DIY tutorial about airdry clay dolls.
I really don't want to give you all a big shopping list and steps listed out as one,two ..

Lets make the DIY creative rather making it as a blind instruction and so I hopefully believe  that at the end of the article I would have made your creative zest boosted up!!

BASIC MATERIALS

First and foremost grab on some airdry clay if you already have one or you can find it in the stores who sell art/craft supplies or just reserve it online.
This is the airdry clay I had been using for years together whenever am inclined to create a doll.
This costed Rs.150 and the usage depends on the size of the dolls. One can make around three or four smaller dolls or two bigger ones comfortably.
Go on a scavenger hunt and pick out some toothpicks, needles, tissues and anything you feel handy for your project.

CONCEPT

When I had the thought of making an air dry clay doll of Goddess Kali , abstract shapes flashed onto my inner mind.
So,I tried experimenting with shapes and combining them to characterize Maa Kali.
You can find the illustration below explaining the form of the concept.

THINKING HAT TASK
What is your favourite character or anything that you longed to make it yourself ?
Is it the glossy superhero doll that you wanted to buy but walked away with a sad face!
Is it the Rapunzel doll you so badly wanted to have one for yourself!!
Or wondering to gift your loved ones something special!!

GO AHEAD!!NOTHING CAN STOP YOU!

HANDY TIP 1: While working on the airdry clay eventhough you dont need any other glue to stick the parts,it depends on the complexity of your doll.
  • You can use toothpicks or pins to secure head onto the body and use one drop of  Feviquick/Flexiquick/Fevicol or anything that sticks firm onto the surface that has to be joined.
  • If your airdry clay has dried out, dont panic!! Get a bowl of water and put the clay inside it for a night or a full day.
  • For working on finer details you can use anything that your comfortable with; such as toothpicks, bell pins, safety pins or any sharp tools etc

After the Kali maa had dried out completely, I added some colours to her avatar.
Bright primary colours with a tinge of gold made her body glow.
I abstracted the lion completely with yellow and blue combo!
As kali maa's unique identity is her face and the blue shaded fierce body I painted them as such.

THOUGHTFUL TIP 1 :Whatever geometrical avatar you had chosen to work on, remember to incorporate the elements properly without distorting the cultural/social identity of the selected theme.
For eg, Kali maa need not necessarily be slender and fierce, so I abstracted her body and face but the elements like lion, objects in her hands, colour of the skin etc should not be forgotten.

HANDY TIP 2: While working on details like hair its better to paint them separately and attach them later because if u paint it aftermath it creates a mess onto the other areas.
You also get coloured air dry clay wherein you can mix them or use them directly without painting.

Now my Kali maa seems to be ready shining at her best!!!
I used toothpick to work on the eyes and mouth but as mentioned earlier you can use anything that you are comfortable and confident on working with !
I added some stones to decorate her dress and throne which adds more bliss to it.

After completing her final looks I varnished her completely and here is the Divine Goddess Kali Maa!!!

So what are you waiting for!!
Shoot up your imagination wild and create your happiness!
Please do post your pictures of the doll here and also drop in your queries anytime here.
Love and Lights to all!!!!
